The Costa Cálida, situated in the southeast of Spain is unique in the world for having an inland sea “the Mar Menor” of about 170 square kilometres. The coastline is more than 70 km long and accommodates many nice villages. The Mar Menor is divided from the Mediterranean by a strip of land of 22 kilometres long called La Manga del Mar Menor. The sandy beaches and the clear shallow waters make La Manga a paradise between two seas, ideal for kids and water sports.

The pleasant temperature of the Mar Menor (about 4 degrees higher than the Mediterranean) is a result of the warm wind in combination with the shallow water. Along its beaches, all facilities to practice a wide range of water sports are present.

The Costa Calida has mild temperatures all year round. The hilly hinterland protects this area against the wind of the flat lands, resulting in temperatures during winter of 16ºC to 22ºC and in the summer of about 30ºC and higher. The sun shines 320 days on average per year.

The area offers a top choice for golfers, hosting several PGA tournaments. There are five 18-hole and two 9-hole courses in several clubs, with 5 more golf courses under construction. All are located in close proximity to the beach and the beautiful local countryside, benefiting from the subtropical climate and offering superb views.

Within the Costa Cálida, Calblanque is a protected natural area since 1987 and a natural reserve since 1992. Its wonderful sand beaches, sandbanks, arid hills, cliff tops and salt flats are all of great ecological value. It represents one of the last virgin spaces of the Spanish Mediterranean coast.Worth visiting and ideal for hiking and biking.
